The Red Wave That Fizzled: Democrats Over-Perform in Midterm Elections as Trump-Endorsed Candidates Falter

Tuesday’s vote was not a rejection of Joe Biden’s presidency by the American people, as Trump and other members of the GOP had predicted. But could it be the end of the Trump era?

It was the best of times for President Joe Biden, it was the worst of times for ex-president Donald Trump. 

The former US president was reportedly “livid” and “screaming at everyone” after the announced “red wave” of GOP landslide wins failed to materialize, according to a CNN report that cites a Trump adviser. 

After all the hype of a triumphant night for the GOP, the vote was not a rejection of Joe Biden’s presidency by the American people, as Trump and other members of the Republican party had predicted.

The hope that Republicans would win back control of both the House and the Senate seem to be failing to materialize. In fact, Democrats would only need to retain control of two of the three remaining senate races in Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.  

What does this mean for Trump, who was predicted to be the favorite to win the GOP nomination for president if he runs again, as he has hinted with his upcoming Nov. 15 announcement? It all points to the fact that Trump’s place in the party is weaker after Tuesday. Sources close to the ex-president describe him as “fuming” at his Mar-a-Lago estate Tuesday night as at least fourteen of his handpicked candidates were projected to have lost their election bids.

In conclusion, at this time, Democrats have impressively over-performed in the midterm election, wining vital governor contests in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, as Trump’s handpicked candidates have failed to deliver.

Does this signal the end of the Trump era?

“This is a sinking ship,” one top Trump adviser told ABC News. “We’re not going to beat that.”
