This is not the first time the Grammy-winning artist has encouraged voter participation.

“Sácala y perrea” is Bad Bunny’s tagline to encourage voter participation in the upcoming elections.

The renowned singer launched a one-day-only special offer on June 6 for fans to enjoy his Coliseo de Puerto Rico concerts transmitted live at Caribbean Cinemas theaters, with a special two-for-one ticket deal available to those who are registered to vote.

Fans have to attend in person and present their voter registration card to take advantage of the deal. Each person can purchase up to two tickets, allowing them to get a total of four for the price of two.

It’s worth noting this is not the first time the Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Benito Martínez Ocasio, has encouraged voter participation. He completed his voter registration process in August 2020 at the headquarters of the State Elections Commission (CEE by its Spanish initials). During that time, he urged others, particularly young people, to follow his example and exercise their right to vote in the general elections. “Go out and vote and get your card,” he encouraged them then.

This is another way that Bad Bunny has combined entertainment with civic duty. Ever since early in his career, he has shown interest in social issues.

“He is motivating the youth to go out and vote and that is good, because we need youth to vote,” a fan told Jugando Pelota Dura, while buying the tickets on Thursday.

The news program visited the CEE and verified that young people were registering to take advantage of the offer.

The artist took to his social networks to thank people for the support and stated that these three concerts will close “a chapter of his career and his life.”

“You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting and longing for this moment. You were the first to hear this album, and the first to hear my music in general. The same one that is now heard throughout the world. Now it’s time to end where it started,” the artist wrote in an Instagram story.
