Democratic Rep. Gallop P. Franklin II, a state legislator representing Florida’s eighth district, is emphatic on the importance of voting in local elections. Aware that a growing number of Floridians are dissatisfied with the direction the Sunshine State has taken under Gov. DeSantis’ leadership–53% believe the state is on the “wrong track,” while just 31% believe Florida is headed in the “right direction”–Franklin urged people to get out and vote. “People will complain and say things are not maybe in their best interests, then election days come, and they stay home,” Franklin told Floricua. Many are disillusioned with politics, while others profess not to believe in the system. But Franklin pointed out that whoever is in office affects every area of people’s lives, from the quality of the air they breathe, to the affordability of their healthcare, the cost of their property insurance, and a woman’s right to a safe abortion that could save her life. “Until the majority of Floridians start showing up for elections, I don’t see there being a change with how the current political landscape is,” he added. 🖊️: @gcbalido 📸: N/A
