Anna Eskamani, Gen-Z Activist Maxwell Frost Among the Democrats Who Won in Florida

By Giselle Balido

November 9, 2022

These districts in the Sunshine Stare remain true blue. And the Sunshine State made history with a Gen Z Democratic victor!

Republicans may have won many of the races across Florida, with Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Ron DeSantis retaining their seats. But the predicted red wave didn’t entirely sweep the Sunshine State, as many Democratic candidates were reelected or newly elected by their constituents. So, although at this time it appears that Republicans won the House, results are still pending. Here are the Democrats who won in Florida.

Additionally, Florida had a historical first when Cuban American Maxwell Alejandro Frost became the first Gen Z American to be elected to Congress for District 10. Generation Z generally refers to those born between the late 1990s to early 2010s.

Frost, a 25-year-old gun reform and social justice activist, is a former March for Our Lives organizer who ran in an Orlando district being relinquished by Democratic Rep. Val Demings, who ran against Sen. Marco Rubio.
