Keeping children safe from gun violence and mass shootings in schools is the number one priority for Americans, according to a new survey.

When it comes to caring for children’s well-being, Americans’ priorities are aligned with those of Biden and the Democratic Party, according to a recent poll by the non-profit organization Navigator research.

The results show that the top priority for those surveyed is keeping children safe from gun violence and mass shootings in schools. Democrats, independents, and parents agreed on that point, with  64%, 57%, and 51%, respectively.

According to Navigator, Republicans stand alone in their prioritization of “preventing children from being exposed to woke ideas,” with 54% of them making that their top priority, while only 40% consider safety to be most important.

The second priority is “making sure they learn the things they need to know to be successful in school and life.”

The third priority is “protecting children’s mental health and providing mental health treatment,” and “protecting children’s access to health insurance and affordable health care.”

Other Navigator findings show that a majority of independents, Republicans, and parents support a range of Democratic proposals related to education and child care. The survey also found that nearly seven in ten Americans (68%) oppose “banning high school classes like AP African-American history.”
