Some of the Puerto Rican MLB players are among the highest-paid players in their positions.
On the list of the 15 highest-paid Major League Baseball (MLB) players this season, two are Puerto Rican.
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor will be the highest-paid Puerto Rican baseball player this season, with $34.1 million. Lindor is the second highest-paid player of his position, after Corey Seager of the Texas Rangers, who earns $35 million.
Lindor occupies the 13th position in the “ranking” of the highest-paid player this year in the entire MLB. Lindor occupies the 13th position regardless of the position played.
Also among the highest-paid shortstops is Carlos Correa, who has a $33.3 million contract with the Minnesota Twins. This places him in third place among all shortstops and 14th on the general list of the highest paid.

Following the top 15 highest-paid players, the Puerto Rican player that follows is Javier Báez. The Detroit Tigers shortstop earns $25 million, which places him in the eighth spot among players of his position. In 2022, Báez signed a contract with Detroit worth $140 million, placing him last on the list of the top 10 MLB shortstops. In the general list of the highest-paid players, he ranks 32.

Pitcher Edwin “Sugar” Díaz for the New York Mets follows with a contract of $19.65 million. Díaz has just returned to play after having been injured last year. In the general list of highest paid, he ranks in position 59.

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher José Berríos follows at $17.7 million and has the 10th-best contract in total value among all MLB starters with his $131 value contract, which he signed in 2022.
The $17.7 million placed him in 22nd position among starting pitchers, and number 69 in the overall ranking of all of MLB players.

Last but not least, Christian Vázquez makes $10 million as a catcher for the Minnesota Twins. He has a contract of $30 million for three seasons.
The $10 million places him as the seventh highest paid catcher in this MLB season. In the general ranking, he is one of the 12 players who are tied in position 156.
