@floricuas Dr. Shelly Tien, a long-time supporter of reproductive freedoms, spoke at a press conference on Wednesday to remind voters of what’s at stake in the upcoming November election. In her speech at Jacksonville’s Prime Osborn Convention Center, Dr. Tien called out former President Donald Trump, who has claimed credit for the conservative US Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe vs. Wade in 2022, and recently talked of allowing Republican-run states like Florida to “monitor” women’s pregnancies to make sure they don’t violate abortion bans. “Will Donald Trump continue to take away our rights?” Dr. Tien asked the crowd. Florida is now one of 17 states where abortion is completely banned or illegal after six weeks. Reproductive rights advocates say the ban will impact mainly low-income women, including women of color. Dr. Tien spoke at an event in Jacksonville that featured Vice President Kamala Harris. 🖊️: @gcbalido 📸: N/A
