Whether you are craving pastelillos de guayaba or sorullitos, arroz con gandules or mofongo, these Boricua panaderías and restaurants offer you the best of the island, without the need to board a plane.
There’s no doubt that one of the things we miss the most when we leave nuestra tierra, is the food we grew up with—its unique flavors and aromas that are so tied to our culture and our identity.
That is why finding a place that brings those sabores a nuestra mesa, wherever our table happens to be, can be sweet, like traveling back home. Here are six panaderias and restaurants that serve the desserts and foods you love, in sunny Florida!
Taino’s Bakery, Five Locations
Founders Liza Padilla and Nicolas Fusté arrived in Central Florida from Morovis, Puerto Rico, with a suitcase full of dreams. In their new home, the hardworking couple struggled to learn a new language while raising their children and working to fulfill their dream.
That dream became Taino’s Bakery. With locations in Lake Underhill, Kissimmee, Whisper Lakes, Goldenrod, Buena Ventura Lakes and Lake Nona, Taino’s Bakery brings the authentic Puerto Rican experience to Florida.
But don’t take our word for it! As soon as you walk into any of their homey locales, you’ll be met with the delicious aroma of fresh baked bread and other delicias of the Boricua table, from pastelillos de guayaba, besitos de coco, polvorones and sorullitos, to their “Authentic Floricuan Cuisine.”
Melao Bakery, Kissimmee and Orlando
Longing for mayorcas, bizcocho de novia, pan de maíz o cantinflas de guayaba? Have we got a place for you!
At Melao Bakery, owners Dennise Torres’ and Eduardo Colón’s love for authentic comida Boricua will delight your senses with the real tastes and aromas of Puerto Rico.

Established in 2019, the founders’ vision is simple: to provide an unforgettable culinary experience while making a difference in the lives of their clients and community. In fact, 100% of the profits go towards local and international missions.
La Bahia Bakery serves fresh coffee and bread each day, plus a variety of lunch daily specials, from Puerto Rican fritters and turnovers, to the sweets and desserts Floricuas remember from home. And it’s all for a good cause!
Bachour, Miami
It is fitting that Chef Antonio Bachour, who grew up in Puerto Rico, makes French-style pastries featuring ingredients, like tropical fruits, that evoke his youth on the island.
Now his three bakeries located in Doral, Coral Gables and The Collection, display cases filled with rows of the most delicious, colorful sweets and baked goods like Dulce de Leche Swirl Croissant and Mango-Passion Fruit macaron. The brunch menu includes guava and cheese pancake, and the sides menu features tried and true favorites like fried yucca and tostones.
El Cafetal Bakery & Restaurant, Orlando
With the Puerto Rican tradition of pan y café coursing through their veins, owners Melvin Méndez and Misely Raíces established El Cafetal Panaderia y Restaurant in 2009.
Since then, this authentic Puerto Rican bakery brings fresh artisan bread and rich, aromatic coffee to the Puerto Rican tables in Orlando. But pan sobao is not all que se cocina en este encantador establecimiento. Hot dishes, cremas, bizcochos, salads, frituras, mofongo… Everything Boricua is on the menu!

Using recipes handed down from generation to generation, Sol de Borinquen offers authentic Puerto Rican dishes, from breakfast to platos a la carta.
