The funding will be used to upgrade water treatment plants, water distribution and piping systems, as well as replace lead pipes—with more than $1 billion awarded this week for seven major rural water projects and another $1 billion for Great Lakes drinking water projects. “Investing in water is investing in America,” said EPA Administrator Michael Reagan.
